A Durham-based platform is connecting health care professionals, especially in the dental industry, with temporary employment.
Boon was launched in December of last year. The app verifies that workers who sign up have up-to-date licenses and credentials and pairs them with clinics looking for help.
Owner and founder of Boon, Ryan Vet, says activity on the platform has ebbed and flowed with the COVID-19 pandemic. When stay-at-home orders went into effect in March, more workers such as dental hygienists were signing up, but demand for workers plummeted as offices mostly closed. Now, as more offices open up, demand is very high, but the supply of workers is low.
Vet Speaking: “Some are just- they’re busy at their full time job so they don’t have the opportunity to temp. Some are not yet comfortable going back to work or are unable to work at this time.”
Vet says one reason why demand is so high is because people are trying to catch up on appointments and offices need more staff to accommodate them.
