On the show

On The Ryan Vet Show, Marc Lotter joins Democratic organizer Caroline Welles and host Ryan Vet a few weeks before the 2026 midterms to talk about whether Gen Z will show up to vote. His lesson from 2024 is about method: every generation takes in media differently, so campaigns of both parties have to reach voters where they are, which for young people today means their phones. He says young people are loud but cynical, and turn out when something specific to them is on the ballot, and he expects the gender gap to carry through with this generation.

He says platforms tend to amplify Democrats and throttle Republicans, and that more critical thinking would level the field. His advice to parents is not to let AI do the thinking and to make kids back up their assertions at the dining room table. His message to Gen Alpha is to get registered, listen to both sides and then decide.

From the episode: he first voted in the 1988 presidential election, as a native Hoosier. He says he got his start in campaign politics in 2003 or 2004 after first leaving the media, and that he was part of the 2016 campaign. He studied political science in college, and says his daughter has three children of her own.

In Marc's words
Maybe we disagree, but we don't have to be disagreeable.
